Established in January 2023 in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering of IIT Delhi, Power Electronics Application & Research Laboratory (PEARL) is equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment and testing facilities. The power circuit topologies of various types of inverters and converters along with their control strategies in the area of solar PV based renewable energy systems are brainstormed in the lab and their working are verified through simulation as well as through experimental studies. It is targeted to fabricate and develop various power electronics based experimental setups in the laboratory whose power level ranges from hundreds of watts to few kW. All the control strategies of the proposed inverters and converters will be implemented digitally through DSPs. The students of this lab get a good exposure to the design of various power electronics converters and inverters. They learn designing of the PCBs, magnetics, power circuits, etc. of the converters/inverters, and also learn to implement their control strategies digitally through DSP. Hence, this lab gives a good opportunity to the students who has a passion to develop their own converters/inverters for their research and developmental work.
